Victoria Day Holiday and Media Spot Day:
Toronto EMS took the spotlight all day long with segments concerning 911 in any Language, Safe City demonstrations, window and balcony safety and a joint message with MADD Canada about the importance of seat belts and the anti-Drinking and Driving campaign.

Jr. Paramedic Day:
Chief Bruce Farr and PG Bear headed down to the Hospital for Sick Children to read to the kids and hand out goodies and then went to Bloorview Kids Rehab to meet with the kids there.

We also hosted the provincial ambassador for Easter Seals, Casey, for a day of Jr. Paramedicine. He met up with his “partner” in the morning, checked his equipment, headedd out to the skid pad then finished the day with a visit to 01 station to take a tour of the bus and a ride on a Mikey cart. Casey even took his meal break with the Chief!

TPA Pub Nite for Kevin Mills:
The TPA hosted a performance night at Cactus Pete’s Bar and Grill at 462 Birchmount to raise money for Kevin Mills, a Toronto EMS paramedic who recently suffered a serious injury. “Judy Belanger and the IV League” jammed it up all night and there was a silent action with fantastic prizes.

Community Paramedicine Day:
We highlighted our Community Paramedics work right in the communities we serve. Visiting various senior centres and community health centres, Paramedics and EMDs distributed information regarding window and balcony safety, heat health and more.

Over at City hall, Toronto EMS Safe City gave “lunch and learn” CPR/AED demos and encouraged people to get certified.

The Communications Centre Open House Day:
Thanks you for joining us as we revealed our new digs to our friends across the Province. A final “unveiling” of the Communications Centre redesign was held, with tours that highlighted the new technologies and equipment that are being rolled out to improve our processes and propel our profession forward.

EMS Awards Night:
A night of celebrating our staff and our community was hosted at the Montecassino Hotel at 3710 Chesswood Drive.

Friday May 22, 2009

EMS Day at the Ontario Science Centre:
We were such a hit last year, we were moved to the Great Hall for 2009! The Ontario Science Centre put us front and centre all day, 10am-4pm. We let visitors check out MediMan, learn CPR, navigate like an EMD and learn all about 911. PG Bear hung out in the KidSpark area teaching the little ones how to dial 911 and hand out stickers and tattoos.
