This year’s international theme was EMS: Extraordinary People/Extraordinary Service. Events ran from May 20 - 25, 2007.

EMS Week kicked off at Yonge and Dundas Square where Emergency Medical Services from around the Greater Toronto Area were on hand to answer questions and display various aspects of EMS. Hide section

Simulation Exercise at Toronto Island Airport

Toronto Emergency Medical Services hosted a mass casualty exercise at Toronto City Centre Airport on Sunday November 5, 2006. The exercise involved Emergency Services response to a simulated plane crash on Toronto Island. The exercise was a well co-ordinated effort of the Toronto Port Authority, Office of Emergency Management, Orange (Air ambulance service), Toronto Police, and Toronto Fire Services. We would like to thank the many paramedic students that volunteer their time as patients at the exercise. Hide section

Window and balcony safety at the Windoor Show

During the week of November 13th, 2006, manufacturers and suppliers of windows and doors came together at the Metro Toronto Convention centre to showcase their products. For the last five years, Toronto EMS has been a key participant at Windoor, promoting window and balcony safety. Community paramedicine coordinator Dean Shaddock organized the event, and this year, the EMS Chiefs of Canada held their fall session at the centre, integrating marathon meeting sessions with an appearance at the show, promoting window and balcony safety across North America. Association of Public Safety Communicators Officers Conference

Over the course of several days in October, the Association of Public Safety Communicators Officers met at the annual APCO conference in Toronto. Toronto EMS was well represented, with a high profile display at the entrance, and knowledgeable staff from the control centre and Community Paramedicine on hand to answer questions from delegates.

This year’s event was hosted by APCO Canada President Dave Ralph (Manager, Toronto EMS’ Communications Education). Hide section
