While Toronto Emergency Medical Services is known as the sole provider of ambulance service in the City of Toronto, there is more to the picture than ambulances rushing around our busy streets. From the bicycles that zip in and out of crowds to the paramedics who respond to calls in the harbour and island, from Critical Care offering highly specialized care to non-emergency transport, Toronto EMS is fully-equipped to provide a range of medical services.

As well as responding to incidents in progress, we also work pro-actively to prevent incidents by providing On-Site Services where we set up bases at large events such as the Canadian National Exhibition to provide care in situ, and Community Paramedicine which works throughout the year to provide education for the vulnerable in areas such as heat alerts and window safety.

Finally, we are equipped to respond to large scale incidents and disasters working with the Police and Fire departments using our Heavy Urban Search and Rescue and Emergency Task Force teams.
